Our Training Philosophy

Our training Philosophy is all about longevity and the constant pursuit of improving this amazing machine that we are behind the wheel of each day. We believe that while it is great to have a six pack in your 20’s , it is more important to have sex in your 80’s. CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximising the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results and is measurable as work divided by time—or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness. (CrossFit HQ)

We believe that true fitness is more than just the ability to do work. It is the ability for your joints to run through range of full range of motion without restriction. It is about having balanced strength and movement in all planes of motion. It is about having a body robust enough that we are able to preform a wide variety of tasks without risk of injury.

Cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. We believe that fitness is achieved with constantly increasing work capacity in each of these varying skills over broad time.

That is what we bring to our programming and coaching on the studio floor. Success requires smart succession. We constantly balance strength, skills, and conditioning. We need mobility, flexibility, and stability. We strengthen our bodies to reduce the risk of injury so that we may continue to train. We hone mechanics and form before adding intensity. We believe that intelligent, elegant workouts produce the most power; power unlocks intensity; intensity which delivers unprecedented results. Intensity is key, not volume.

We believe that stereotypes and self imposed limitations kill potential and that everyone can be as strong as they desire. Our vision of beauty is embodied in each individual member’s ability to triumph over increasing challenge.

Fitness is not a 12 week challenge; fitness is for life. Setting a solid foundation of safe form and proper movement raises the ceiling on your potential and is infinitely wiser than adding weight to the bar before you’re ready. For some, this may take years. Accept it and embrace it, because training is the key, not testing.

We coach movement mastery not to hold you back, but to further your ability. Mastery of each movement decreases the risk of injury, increases the ability to preform, and preserves the beneficial technique needed for continued athletic development.

We strive for continual self improvement. We hurt ourselves just enough today to keep coming back for more tomorrow. We constantly work to fix our body imbalances. We honour form and technique and understand that true health and fitness is a continual path of self improvement with no final destination, and your training program should mirror this importance.
