Tommy Fankhanel

He is the physical embodiment of persistence and determination. Tommy's road to fitness has not been an easy one, yet he has shown us not take no for an answer when it gets tough. Also, he wishes he was the son of Kanye, lucky for us he is way too nice and genuine to fit the bill.

HOW OLD ARE YOU?

22.

WHAT IS YOU ROLE AT THE OX BOX?

I am a Coach, and keep this place looking clean (you’re welcome).

WHY DO YOU ENJOY WORKING AT THE OX BOX?

I’m guaranteed to be around people that I enjoy being around doing things we love doing. We love and challenge each other.

WHAT ARE SOME THINGS MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU?

I know the lyrics to almost every Kanye song.

I used to have a big time video game addiction (and am still susceptible).

I used to be pretty good at speaking French, but have since lost it.

Sometimes you just have to let it go through to the wicketkeeper.

Tommy’s STORY

On a drive home from school my mate and I simultaneously decided we were fat and that we would wake up early the next morning for a run. Those runs turned into bench press and bicep curls at the gym. He got strong and big and I ended up getting skinny. Fast forward a little bit and I’m waking up at 4:30am to come to class with my mum (Tammy). Before all that, 14 years of basketball and a few years of footy.

My initial CrossFit experience was awesome, you are exposed to all these new movements and each class there is something new to try and conquer, full of excitement. Now it’s more about a long-term health journey that I get to share with the people around me. They find enjoyment in my success and I find enjoyment in theirs.
